Soulsteam - Mechanics
Soulsteam Overview
Soulsteam is a strange otherworldly substance that leaks from the center of the world. While it looks like a mist or steam, it is in fact dangerous to humans, but those dangers are what make it useful. To soulsteam, all matter in the 3d dimension is an empty container, and it seeks to fill that container through memorizing information of the container. However, once it fills an object, information changed in the soulsteam will also change the objects it is inhabiting or touching.
Types of Soulsteam
Unrefined Soulsteam
Natural soulsteam that exists in the environment. It is full of information that it picks up on the surface and underground tunnels. It often takes the shape of the information it absorbs, which often makes it look like landscapes and Tech Biomes.
Refined Soulsteam
This is Soulsteam used for everyday industrial use. It has all of its information set to null. This is necessary for idea generators, because they cannot encode information if they do not understand the original information.
Encrypted Soulsteam
Since the idea generators need to know the information inside soulsteam before they can rewrite it, that means it can be encrypted. Fill your Soulsteam reserves with encrypted information, then have your idea set to read that encrypted information. This allows you to deny the utility of your weapons and fuel reserves if they are captured by the enemy. The weapons won’t run without the special fuel, and the fuel will only work with your weapons. Just make sure you don’t let them get your encryption device, otherwise it can be easily decrypted.
Enfused Soulsteam
Similar to encrypted soulsteam, this soulsteam has extra information in it. However, instead of a complex description algorithm, it instead has a spell. These spells allow the fuel to serve a purpose while inside the machine. One example of this is the orb drones. These drones are filled with liquid soulsteam infused with an antigravity spell. This allows the fuel to pull double duty as both fuel and lift. The drone controls its height by moving soulsteam into a small secondary storage container with the spell removed. This technique also allows for faster use. Idea generators take more time encoding longer spells into soulsteam. By pre-encoding information you know you will need, it allows you to save time when it comes time to make minor adjustments.

Idea Generators
This machine can add information to soulsteam, and is a standard part of any Soulsteam machine that needs to be adjusted on the field. This device takes in soulsteam and adjusts the information in it depending on the imputed spell. Humanity has figured out many standard issue spells that can be imputed, however larger more complicated spells require a spirit in order to calculate and input them into the machine.
Activator Spark
Soulsteam absorbs information and distributes it throughout itself. However, it will not transfer that information into objects until it is activated. The soulsteam activator is a spark plug device that energizes the soulsteam into an active state. Once in an active state, the soulsteam will expel its information into surrounding objects. This is used for more mundane information and is far more reliable than incompatibility bursts. Incompatibility bursts occur when the information produced by the idea generator is radically different from the initial information. The soulsteam attempts to immediately expel the information in a large burst.
Soulsteam Stabilizer
Soulsteam stabilizers are devices that keep soulsteam in a non-active state. If information is too different, then it has the risk of causing incompatibility bursts. Soulsteam Stabilizers keep the soulsteam from activating while the initial info shock is taking place. Usually added as an attachment between the idea generator and the outgoing pipe.
Soulsteam Coolant System
In order to keep Soulsteam in liquid form, people use an S.C.S. or a Steam Coolant System. These machines are very efficient but still require liquid soulsteam to run. In order to jumpstart the process and acquire some liquid soulsteam, a Frostflame lighter is needed. These small pocket lighters emit a small blue flame that is dangerously cold. Once a small amount of soulsteam freezes the engine can start. The S.C.S. will then cool the soulsteam in the surrounding air or canisters into fuel.
